Term 3

Term 3 week 6

What an exciting end to the term, we have gone on an adventure through the Arctic and learned all about where to find the Arctic, what the weather is like and what animals live there. In English we have looked at the book 'The Emperors egg' and learned lots about penguins. We have enjoyed making snowflakes from paper, igloos from cups and cotton wool and we also made a giant Igloo using printing and white sand, Can you guess which Arctic animal we made from paper plates?

Internet Safety Day

We have learned what to do to stay safe online - Smartie the penguin has taught us a song to remember what to do if we are unsure about something we see online.

Number Day 2022

To raise money for the amazing charity NSPCC, St Edwards had a number day. We got to dress up with the theme of numbers and spent the whole day - yes you heard correct, we spent the whole day having fun with number activities. We took part in a number hunt on the field, measured dinosaurs on the playground, created bar charts showing our favourite ice cream flavour and many more. Just look how much fun we had...

Term 3 Week 5

This week we have been looking at the story of 'The Three Little Pigs' and linked lots of our learning through this. we have been learning about speech bubbles in English and learned to add and subtract in maths by adding two numbers together and building a tower and then pretending to be the big bad wolf and blowing down some of the bricks. We have also had fun making the 3 pigs houses and using science we thought about what would work best to hold the materials together.

Term 3 Week 3 and 4

We have been looking at the traditional tale 'The Gingerbread Man'. The children received a number of letters from The Little Old Lady, asking for help to catch the Gingerbread Man. The Children created wanted posters to help catch him , but it wasn't until the Gingerbread Man sent a letter to the class, that we were sent on a treasure hunt to find him. And we did! We ended the week with a special surprise, baking Gingerbread men.

Term 3 Week 1 and 2

This term, our first book that we focused on was 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears'. We have used Pie Corbett to add actions to our story, helping us to re-tell it through a story map in our English work.

In maths, we have been looking at measure, so we have been ordering objects according to their size, measuring the height of an object using cubes and much more.

Our next book is 'The Gingerbread Man', and we have lots of fun activities planned around this book. Watch this space!
