St Edward's Catholic Primary School

Term 1

We've had another fantastic week in Year 4! We have had lots of fun in French learning vegetables and how to ask for them. You may of heard your child singing the song at home! In maths, we have been looking at analogue and digital time to the closest minute and have completed lots of practical work around this subject. For English, we have created some amazing character description for Puck from 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' and have continued to practice our colour theory skills in Art, in preparation for our final magical woods piece. In RE this week, we have been looking at the story of Moses, The Passover and The Exodus. We used drama to show how we thought Moses and the Israelites may have felt during these times.

This week in Year 4, we have been writing character descriptions in English. Our focus book since the start of the term has been A Midsummer Night's Dream and the character we chose to write a description for is Puck, the cheeky sprite. In maths, we have moved on from place value and are now looking at using 'Frog Subtraction' and using addition to check our answers. Science has been all about States of Matter this term and we have been conducting lots of fun experiments to help us in our learning. We have been lucky enough that a member from A Chance to Shine Cricket club has been in every Tuesday, teaching us the skills needed to play cricket. The children have absolutely loved taking part in this! In art, we have been exploring colour theory, along with tint, tone and shade. In a few weeks, we will use our new skills to paint the forest scene from MSND.
