Our topic this term is Following Jesus.
We learned about friendships with one another and Jesus's friendships with His disciples. We thought about what makes a good friend and made a friends recipe.
We enjoyed role play and acted out the story of Palm Sunday.
In English we have written non-chronological reports on being healthy after reading Dr Dog and learning about ho unhealthy the Gumboyle family are! This linked in with our Science and DT; we learned about healthy foods and wrote instructions on how to make a sandwich.
We have spent lots of time increasing our knowledge of number as we worked with numbers up to 50. We used manipulatives including Numicon and Base 10 to represent and partition 2 digit numbers.
This term we have learned about the five senses. We worked scientifically by using our senses; we used our sense of sight to observe the outside world around us, taste tested some healthy foods (linking DT again!) and tested our hearing with loud and quiet sounds. We used different parts of our body to see which part was best for feeling and had to identify some everyday food and drink items using our sense of smell.
In History, we found out about two amazing ladies - Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole. We learned how and why they became nurses and how they changed the world of medicine for the better. Did you know that Mary Seacole visited Sheerness and the people called her 'Mother Seacole?'
First of all, we learned about germs ad how easily they can spread. We must wash our hands before handling food!
We enjoyed designing, making and eating some delicious and healthy recipes such as fruit kebabs and smoothies. We even made sweet treats for Mother's Day.
PE lessons taught us more about ball skills. We learned more about controlling a ball with both hands then extended our learning to using only one hand.
We learned to improve our skills of working with a partner by observing and copying others.
We have enjoyed using tablets in our Computing lessons this term and have improved our knowledge of following instructions online. We tried hard to follow an algorithm and 'de-bug' if we made a mistake. We had fun giving instructions and seeing if our partner's work matched our own.
This term, we learned more about how much God loves us. We thought about special people in our lives and how we must treat others well.
In Music, we listened to the story The Three Little Pigs and used our voices to explore dynamics. We changed the pitch of our voices for different characters. We also used instruments to create different sounds and join in with rhythmic patterns.
