We have been busy learning about position and direction. Watch the video below of us following directions using forwards and backwards.
We learnt about ordinal numbers as positions. We raced and discussed the positions we came. Below are some photographs of the positions from 1st to 6th.
On Friday 21st June we celebrated our annual whole school sports day. Activities included tunnel ball, an obstacle course and the good old egg and spoon race.
Year 1 thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon which was finished off with running races. Thank you to our grown ups who took part. We received a medal and sticker for participation and teamwork.

On Friday 28th June, we celebrated pupils with 100% attendance by hosting an inflatables morning. The children got to spend time on fun inflatables including a disco! The rest of the class then joined in with the fun.
Then, in the afternoon we joined in with the Summer Fete and sold the items we had made during Enterprise Week. The wooden keyrings and bookmarks were a hit with customers. Who will the winning class be?
We have been studying The Snail and the Whale this term and have written postcards as well as poems.

We have been learning about the miracles of Jesus and how we can help others. We re-enacted The Storm at Sea sailing through a storm before Jesus said, 'Stop.'
We thought about ways in which we can help others and asked for Jesus's help.
Then we learned about Jesus's first miracle where He turned water into wine. we made miracle wheels to show this.
Humans was out topic for Term 5; we learned about external and internal body parts which we made using play dough. We also talked about how our bodies change when we exercise.
Looking back at our term 5 learning on plants, we visited the gardening area to see how much our runner beans and sunflowers have grown.
We learned about Rodin and sculpture this term. We experimented with different materials including natural objects from our woodland before making clay sculptures of a bust.
We found out lots about the History of St Edward's school and spent time looking for signs of the old building using our history detective skills. Did you know that girls and boys used to come into school using different entrances?
We interviewed past students and even spent a day at St Edward's in 1927!
We revisited prior learning on animals as we went on our class trip to The Big Cat Sanctuary in Smarden.
We learned about 'Roars, Paws and Claws' and were able to hold cat bones, hair, teeth and claws!
After that, we visited the animals in the sanctuary; some were very excited to see us.
Some of our favourite cats were the black jaguar, white lion and cheetahs.
