St Edward's Catholic Primary School

Term 6

This Terms Theme- Life Cycles

English and Maths

Over the term, we will be learning in Literacy using our main story ‘The very hungry caterpillar’. We will share some other stories in relation to life cycles. Our focus this term is for the children to continue writing in full sentences, using their phonics skills, finger spaces and full stops. We cannot wait for the children to experience growing our own butterflies.

Our daily phonics lessons have been very successful, and the children are showing a good understanding of the phonetic sounds that we have learnt. We will be continuing to learn new sounds each week to support us with our early writing.

In Mathematics, we will continue to build on our subitising skills to be able to instantly recognise how many objects are in front of us. We will also be looking at shapes, sharing and grouping, and patterns.

The children have been enjoying their White Rose Maths lessons and we will continue with these, working hard together to progress.

UNDERSTANDING THE WORLD – History

This term we will be learning all about Transport. We will be taking a trip to the beach as we had to reschedule this from last term due to bad weather.

EXPRESSIVE ARTS AND DESIGN- Art

Our Expressive Arts and Design focus is art sculpture. We will be using the theme of life cycles to support us with this.
