St Edward's Catholic Primary School

Term 6

Residential Day 1

After arriving safely at Thriftwood, the children were allocated rooms and split into two groups, before setting off on their activities for the day. Group 1 took part in a Vertical Assault Course and then Crate Stacking whilst Group 2 completed a Postman's Walk followed by the Vertical Assault Course. After refueling their energy with some sandwiches, crisps, yoghurt and chocolate brownies for lunch, both groups teamed up to participate in their first water activity: Rafting. Dinner that evening consisted of burgers with wedges and sweetcorn and a generous helping of chocolate cake for dessert, which the children enjoyed before taking part in their last activity of the day: Wide Game. The children have had a fabulous first day and are all looking forward to tomorrow's adventures.

Residential Day 2

After a late night, the day began with some typical British weather: rain. Today's breakfast choices were toast, crumpets or cereal, which the children thoroughly enjoyed before making the most of a bit of free time to explore their surroundings before their first set of activities. Mrs. Kinslow also joined us this morning to see the wonderful time the children were having. Group 1's morning activities were: Zipline and Postman's Walk; Group 2's morning activities were: Crate Stacking and Hi See Saw. The children had a wonderful morning trying activities they had never done before and they were all hungry when lunchtime arrived. Today's lunch consisted of rolls, crisps, cucumber sticks and flapjacks. After lunch saw an afternoon with another set of activities for each group. Group 1: Water Roller, Archery and Hi See Saw; Group 2: Archery, Water Roller and Zipline. Once the activities had finished it was time for the children to visit the tuck shop and spend their money on sugary sweets to keep the teachers up all night laugh The children had some more free time before their final activity of the day: Camp Fire.

Residential Day 3

Today is our last day but it has still been a morning full of fun activities. The children began their day with a hearty breakfast of cereals, toast, crumpets and chocolate croissants before beginning to repack their cases ready for our journey home. Once ready, the children made their way to the lake for a morning of water activities. Group 1: Kayaking and Stand-Up-Paddleboards; Group 2: Stand-Up-Paddleboards and then Kayaking. The children had a fantastic time taking part in both activities and they all got a little bit wet laugh Our final lunch of wraps (with a variety of fillings), crisps and chocolate bars was devoured by all before saying our final goodbyes to the wonderful instructors of Thriftwood that have helped us to make some wonderful, lasting memories.
