In English we shared a warning text, where a character was warned about something but didn't listen. They then had to deal with the consequences of their actions. We used this text as a basis for our own writing. We planned our own warning stories, using the boxing up method. We then wrote each 5 paragraphs from our notes for our own stories.
We also planned and wrote a simple picture book for the EYFS children. After planning a story s we then created a simple story with repetition or a retell of a traditional tale. We made a little book and then shared our storybooks with EYFS on the last day of term.
In Maths we have been measuring, both mass and capacity and volume. We have measured in grams and kilograms and in millilitres and litres. We have looked at scales to compare mass and volume, we have added and subtracted amounts and we have solved problems involving mass and volume.
In computing we have learned safety around emailing and receiving emails. We have learned how to email and how to attach documents and photos. We even received an email from King Charles III and could share our knowledge pf internet and email safety. Please log in to Purple Mash at home to see our learning.
During our Art topic of Pencil Sketching we learned about different pencils and different ways to hold a pencil. After that we learned and practised a variety of sketching techniques including hatching, cross hatching, stippling and scumbling. We then studied the artist Kathe Kollwitz, she sketched people and faces and looked at different emotions. We used all the skills we used and the knowledge of the different pencils to create our own portraits I the style of Kathe Kollwitz.
RE this term focused on Easter and Pentecost. We learned about Easter celebrations including the Easter Vigil and the significance of the Paschal Candle. After Jesus had risen, we discussed how many people didn't believe Jesus was alive because they hadn't seen him. We then linked our art skills to create a piece of art work to remember that Jesus is always with us. When learning about Pentecost, we discussed how Jesus helped the Disciples to believe that they could continue to share His teaching and love. The Coming of the Holy Spirit ensured all Disciples believed and could continue with their journey of helping others just like Jesus did.
