St Edward's Catholic Primary School

Term 6

RE

English

This term we have been studying The Snail and the Whale by Julia Donaldson. We wrote postcards about our adventures around the world as the snail from the story.

We wrote snail poems and used our outdoor learning environment to find out more about the minibeasts to gather ideas for our writing.

Computing

We became coders this term and learned how to give simple instructions to the computer. We were able to successfully make fish move across our screens.

RHE

We learned more about being created to love others. We found out about people who can help us and what to do in an emergency.

Music

We explored more instruments this term and used our knowledge of rhythm and tempo to keep in time with one another.

Other Learning

On Wednesday 2nd July, we visited Bedgebury Pinetum. Linking to our Term 5 Science learning on plants, we observed and identified evergreen and deciduous trees. We stood among nature and felt the calmness of the forest.

Linking to our Term 6 learning on sculpture, we became woodland artists for the day. We found carved Gruffalo sculptures, made sculptures out of natural materials that we found on the forest floor, and chose parts of nature to print onto clay. We were able to bring the clay sculptures home with us.

We had a fantastic day and managed to stay dry!
